Did you have a normal high school life at all?
I went to school up until I got the show, which was in sixth grade. After that I got home-schooled on the set. So I never had that normal part of life. Working on "Lol" was my kind of high schoolexperience that people at 16 or 17 are usually going through. The cast and I, we were all so connected. This is probably the only production I worked on where I’m still really close with every single cast member.
Lola is chatting and texting basically all the time. You use twitter a lot. Can you imagine life without smartphone and internet?
Dude, honestly, I can’t imagine life without all that stuff. Even though I think that people in the public, like me, would be able to live their life a lot better. You know, a few years ago, when I was shooting "The Last Song" there were a few little pubs around where we were shooting. And I would go there and get my guitar and sing and never wanted to see any of this on YouTube. Now everyone feels the need to document every moment of their life and share it with the world. I think it takes a lot out of celebrities’ lives, because you can’t be doing anything without someone tweeting about it. It’s nice to be able to connect with my fans, but it would be great if everyone maybe took a few hours less a day on their computer or their iPhone. I’d just wish that everything was less social media.
Your boyfriend Liam is one of the stars of "The Hunger Games". Do you talk about each other’s movies and give each other advice?
We don’t at all. We lie around reading two different scripts and I never look at his script, he never looks at mine. We’ve been together three years and it works this way, keeping it very separate. I’m obviously proud of "The Hunger Games" and I loved seeing the film, but in everything other than that, I’ve been really kind of uninvolved. I feel like otherwise it would make things awkward. Like you said, there is a sex scene with Douglas in "LOL" and whenever I see there’s a kiss in one of Liam’s movies, it’s like "I don’t want to see that". We love each other and that’s we want to think about. It’s just about our relationship and not anyone else.
Chat rooms, social networks, SMS – Lola, called Lol, is always connected with her friends. Starting a new year of high school, her world is turned upside down: after breaking up with her boyfriend, Lola falls in love with her best friend Kyle.
Thus she begins to struggle with finding herself, her first love, friendship and countless fights with her mother. The upcoming class trip to Paris seems to be the only way out for her in order to get closer to Kyle and take a big leap towards adulthood.
